- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it begins to bubble gently.
Add the minced garlic and cook for about one minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant but not browned.
Lower the heat slightly and pour in the heavy cream, whisking to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer lightly for 3 to 4 minutes.
Stir in the salt, black pepper, and nutmeg. Continue to simmer for another 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Gradually add the grated Parmesan cheese, whisking until fully melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.
Remove from heat and let it stand for a minute to thicken slightly.
Serve immediately over warm pasta or your favorite dish.
